Hawaiian Sea Glass
Sea Glass is broken and smooth glass that gets its exquisite texture from sitting in the ocean for extended periods of time while being tumbled in salt water and waves. These sea treasures can be even more unique and one-of-a-kind when found in similar pairs due to the unique nature of its origin, size and shape. Unlike shells, sea glass is randomly created most commonly from broken glassware and bottles that have been there for at least 5 years and anywhere beyond 50+ years! It can be found in oceans and beaches around the world, however, most commonly in places like Hawai’i, California, and Australia. The most common colors are teal-blue, white-clear, green, and brown. Sometimes you can even find red, pink, purple, orange, and black pieces of sea glass!
As a sustainable and ethically-made business, we love using sea glass at Salt & Water Co. because it allows us to help clean up the ocean and utilize recycled items to turn them into beautiful designs again. Today, sea glass can be even harder to find because many items created back in the day are now replaced with plastic. it has also became an increasingly popular activity among beach lovers, making it even more special when you find a unique piece.
